Broken Power Switch
The power switch on my Dell Studio 1747 is mounted in the RH Display hinge. I accidentally dropped my laptop onto the floor (luckily with thick carpet!). This caused the power switch to fracture. I have now relocated the power switch to just near the power adapter socket and drilled a small hole through the keyboard cover. I use a pen to operate the switch, primitive but effective. Thank you Dell Parts Source for the quick service. From Texas to Coffs Harbour, Australia in a week!

Trying to get a Dell Laptop to power up
I have a Dell Studio 1749 laptop that has a bright red cover, hence its name, "Big Red". It became difficult to power on. Suspecting the power switch to be the problem, I found one on the Dell Parts Source web page for a very reasonable price. I placed my order and had it shipped standard USPS rates. I was very excited when the switch arrived in just a few days after I ordered it. I began the task of taking the laptop apart to reach the power switch. When I reached that point, I was disappointed to find that part of the case back was broken off inside. While I was correct with it being a problem related to the power switch, it was really a broken mounting stub that caused my problem. Back to Dell Parts Source I went. They had several colors of case backs in stock (new), but sadly, not in red. I ordered a chain mail cover, it arrived quickly, and now Big Red is Big Black. The color change doesn't bother me because now my laptop is 100% back in service. Thank you Dell Parts Source for having the right parts and quick delivery service!
